Firstly, I have voted for you.
I have a question concerning the road conditions. Many roads that were laid 40+ years back are still in decent shape, yet roads laid in the last 20 years are not, main difference being it seems is when they used the 13 ton rollers and went over several times the asphalt was compressed correctly and when they changed to the 3.5 vibrating rollers this stopped.
To stop wasting money and having to repair repeatedly the roads, would you recommend that the council only use companies which would either lay a road correctly or agree to look after the road by fixing any damage at their expense for its first 20 years?

Already posted our votes for you today :) Got your leaflet tonight - Backworth, Hotspur North. Do you know the leaflet is blank on one side? I own a printers in North Shields and it seems a waste of your advertising space to have an A4 folded to A5 leaflet, that is blank inside. Letting you know in case it is mis printed. Should have used your local printer! 🙂 That is me! Dave Dent Printers Good luck on Thursday

Hi John,
When you stated that the dutch roundabout at the top of Rake Lane being a "vanity project", are you suggesting that we don't continue to build suitable cycling infrastructure to ensure the residents of North Tyneside are healthy, as well as being able to reduce traffic, as with more bike lanes, less people will drive. Do you mean that we should be attempting to spend less on bikes lanes, and introduce them in a more affordable way when roads require resurfacing, or are you suggesting that we shouldn't continue to build vital infrastructure to travel?
I use the cycle lanes going up Rake Lane on a daily basis, as they provide a much safer commute to the Cobalt, which we should be encouraging, as we're very lucky to have the biggest business park in the UK, as well as having many ways to get there that aren't driving. Less drivers makes North Tyneside safer for everybody; there are less cars to hit people, less traffic, so less pollution, etc, as well as increasing the general health of our population.
Do you pledge to continue to support the people of North Tyneside to be able to travel freely, and safely, or are cars a higher priority to people?
Many thanks

Wishing you luck on 1st May . North Tyneside Council has sat on its ‘ laurels ‘ expecting to succeed at every election held in Borough . There is currently a two tier system, very evident in North End of Whitley Bay because residents don’t vote Labour in St Mary’s ward . Because of the large number of Labour Councillors nothing changes except it costs more on Council Tax each year and there is a lack of visible effort . Reform have an opportunity to make changes here but they will have to be ruthless and dynamic . To many hangers on , too many meetings , to much scratch your back / you scratch mine attitude . It is also evident that the wrong Councillors are in the wrong jobs . Fewer top of the pile people more grass root level , and ask the residents what they need in their immediate location .

I'm very pleased to have such a strong Reform candidate for the Mayoral position. I think your proposals cover most of the issues we face. One specific thing I'd add is that vendors providing services to North Tyneside should go to tender every 3 years. Capita currently have a 15 year contract which may have been value for money in 2012 but now allows them to charge ridiculously inflated prices with no competition. This should be run like vendor management would be run in a business.

I live in forest hall, 6 labour & 4 conservative leaflets, no Reform info( I had to Google you & your manifesto). I firmly believe in Reform & sincerely hope you are elected, why no info in our area?

John, as a potential supporter, I cannot tell you how disappointing it is to read your pledges. You'll never have a better opportunity to remove the old guard and you come out with such a weak and feeble set of pledges, a complete waste of time. Filling in pot holes, review capex and creating apprenticeships is not a plan for real change. Let's get switched on and engage real pledges.

Good Luck for the election!
Personally would like to see reduction to the mass developments that NTC are allowing. The roads are congested, School places are over subscribed, struggling to NHS Dentist and Doctors appointments have a 3-4 week wait.
All these new developments will only add more strains on these stretched services.
